To say we went to Kenya, Africa only to try and capture some inspiring photos may not be entirely true.
However, inspiration comes in different forms, and traveling has always inspired me to bring an extra bag (or two) of camera gear.
Below, I’ve collected some memories from our second attempt to visit Kenya (the first attempt didn’t go that well, we had the tickets ready, all papers in order, visa etc, when things went south.) We did a last minute (literally) re-booking and went west in to the Carribean, that time around.
Our first stop was at a beautiful lodge on the coast in the north-eastern part of Kenya. In Watamu we found Lonno Lodge, the magnificent creation of Aldo & Silvia, who also run and operate the lodge. They really made our stay a memory for life, so if you are planning on going to Kenya, please check out their website (and lodge).
We made our way south, still on the coast, to a resort where we stayed a couple of nights before heading onward. The surrondings were literally filled with monkeys (no leaving anything unsupervised)
Our last stop was at a truly stunning location. The beautiful Lodge Kutazama is built on a height, overlooking an elephant sanctuary and located close to the Shimba Hills National Reserve. If you are looking for something extra, please contact Gill and Garry at Kutazama, you won’t be disappointed.
Once the sun went down, I made an attempt to catch some of the amazing night skies of Africa. I put together them as an Time-Lapse video below. Maximize and turn on your speakers 🙂
